Hey what rig would be complete without the original mobile mount and matching
Hallicrafters mobile speaker. Here they are just as they were when Fred
Schnell removed them from his mobile operation. I wasn't exactly sure why that U-shaped angle bracket was attached to the bottom of the mount. Dick Schnell emailed me with the following as he remembers it. "I believe the U-bracket shown with the mobile-mount came as part of the installation kit, but don't know for sure. Dad used it to secure the mount over the transmission hub just below the dashboard in his '61 Oldsmobile. He drilled through the carpeting and hump and used large self-tapping screws to secure the bracket after fastening the mount to it. Thus, the rig was easily inserted/removed from his car." So if you already own a '61 Oldsmobile perhaps this FPM-200 is all that is missing from your mobile HF operation! |
